Auction result well in line with expectations
The work British Wild Raspberries And Thistles by John Wainwright was sold in the The Sporting Sale: Equestrian, Wildlife & Maritime Art auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2008. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 32,500.00 (€ 23,349.38) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Wainwright - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Roses, Lillies, Tulips, Poppies And Other Flowers In A Vase In A Classical Garden, which sold at auction in June 2005 for GBP 44,400.00 (€ 65,803.60).
