Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Landscape No 567 by John Virtue was auctioned at Christies in London in March last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 6,500.00 (€ 7,706.48). Admittedly, works by John Virtue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Landscape No. 87 in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 47,196.07).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Landscape No 567 von John Virtue im März letzten Jahres bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 6.500,00 (€ 7.706,48) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Virtue auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Landscape No. 87 im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 47.196,07).
