Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2020 Phillips in an online auction held the auction Land, Sea, Sky: Online Auction, which included the work Landscape 199 by John Virtue. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 4,818.30) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Virtue have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Landscape No. 87 in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 47,196.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2020 führte Phillips in einer Online-Auktion die Auktion Land, Sea, Sky: Online Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Landscape 199 von John Virtue zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.375,00 (€ 4.818,30) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Virtue auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Landscape No. 87 im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 47.196,07).
