Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Cottages at Newthorn, Green Haworth by John Virtue was auctioned at Christies in London in October 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 940.31) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Virtue achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Landscape No. 87 in November 2016 with an auction result of GBP 40,000.00 (€ 47,196.07).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Cottages at Newthorn, Green Haworth von John Virtue kam im Oktober 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 812,50 (€ 940,31) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Virtue erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Landscape No. 87 im November 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 40.000,00 (€ 47.196,07).
