Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work A squadron of the fleet weathering a heavy gale, the sun breaking through the clouds by John Thomas Serres was auctioned at Christies in London in September 2010. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 7,951.67). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Thomas Serres achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern in February 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,810.76).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit A squadron of the fleet weathering a heavy gale, the sun breaking through the clouds von John Thomas Serres kam im September 2010 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern im Februar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 84.000,00 (€ 121.810,76).
