Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

In July 2016 Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work A view of Richmond Bridge on the River Thames, with figures boating in the foreground by John Thomas Serres. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 18,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 20,000.00 (€ 23,764.33). Admittedly, works by John Thomas Serres have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern in February 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,810.76).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Im Juli 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit A view of Richmond Bridge on the River Thames, with figures boating in the foreground von John Thomas Serres zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 18.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 20.000,00 (€ 23.764,33) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Thomas Serres auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern im Februar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 84.000,00 (€ 121.810,76).
