Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2024 a collector was able to acquire the work The coast and entrance of Brest, with the HMS Boadicea making signal to a repeating frigate of the number of French and Spanish ships at anchor in the harbor by John Thomas Serres for USD 12,600.00 (€ 11,012.06). This price was achieved in the auction Old Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Thomas Serres achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern in February 2005 with an auction result of GBP 84,000.00 (€ 121,810.76).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2024 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The coast and entrance of Brest, with the HMS Boadicea making signal to a repeating frigate of the number of French and Spanish ships at anchor in the harbor von John Thomas Serres für USD 12.600,00 (€ 11.012,06) erwerben. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Shipping off Lisbon, a seventy-four Third Rate passing two small craft as she heads out of the Tagus into a squall, with an anchored British frigate off her port beam and the Belém Tower receding astern im Februar 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 84.000,00 (€ 121.810,76).
