Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2004 Christies in London held the auction British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from, which included the work A wooded river landscape with a herdsman and cattle by John Thirtle. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 717.00 (€ 1,067.11) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Thirtle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait of John Sell Cotman, Mrs Edmund Miles And Ann Miles In The Miles Family Farmhouse, Felbrigg, Norfolk in November 2006 with an auction result of GBP 9,000.00 (€ 13,365.28).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juni 2004 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art on Paper including Victorian Watercolours from durch, in der auch die Arbeit A wooded river landscape with a herdsman and cattle von John Thirtle zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 717,00 (€ 1.067,11) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Thirtle erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait of John Sell Cotman, Mrs Edmund Miles And Ann Miles In The Miles Family Farmhouse, Felbrigg, Norfolk im November 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 9.000,00 (€ 13.365,28).
