Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Antonio by John Sonsini. The price achieved of USD 6,375.00 (€ 5,632.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Sonsini have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Gabriel in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 43,750.00 (€ 32,520.63).

Im Dezember 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary ArtFeaturing a Selection of Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Antonio von John Sonsini zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 6.375,00 (€ 5.632,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Sonsini auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Gabriel im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 32.520,63).
