Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Singer Sargent could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in November 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work General Sir John Cowans changed hands for USD 175,000.00 (€ 158,816.59) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Singer Sargent achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work San Geremia in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 9,087,500.00 (€ 7,787,060.84).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Singer Sargent konnte im November 2019 bei Sothebys in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion American Art wechselte die Arbeit General Sir John Cowans für USD 175.000,00 (€ 158.816,59) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Singer Sargent erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit San Geremia im Mai 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 9.087.500,00 (€ 7.787.060,84).
