Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Joining The Elders; A Bay Pony Led By A Groom With A Boy In Racing Silks Up, Together With Four Horses And Two Riders, One Up, A Racecourse Beyond by John Nost Sartorius was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,568.46) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Nost Sartorius have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Run with Mr. James Drake Brockman's hounds at Beachborough, Kent: Leaving the Kennels, Underhill, Shornecliffe; Going to Covert; Gone Away; Full Cry; The Death - Treeing the Fox; and The Return Home in June 2004 with an auction result of USD 107,550.00 (€ 88,307.74).
