Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Gorge of Roya by John Mulcaster Carrick was sold in the BRITISH AND VICTORIAN PAINTINGS, INCLUDING SCOTTISH PICTURES auction at Christies in London in March 2001. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,292.50 (€ 2,085.58) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Mulcaster Carrick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fishermen off a rocky coastline, Italy; and The Italian Riveria, which sold at auction in June 2014 for GBP 5,000.00 (€ 6,247.26).
