Sold at the upper estimate price
In February 2020 Phillips in London held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Flare by John McCracken. The auction ended at the price of GBP 200,000.00 (€ 231,800.45), which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of GBP 150,000.00 – 200,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John McCracken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in November 2015 for USD 965,000.00 (€ 913,652.72).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Februar 2020 führte Phillips in London die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flare von John McCracken zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von GBP 200.000,00 (€ 231.800,45) entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 150.000,00 – 200.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von John McCracken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im November 2015 für USD 965.000,00 (€ 913.652,72) versteigert wurde.
