Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Thomas Norton Esq. (1760–1803) Of Kingston Bowsey, Sussex, Standing Full-Length, With His Horse And Dog In A Landscape by John Hoppner was sold in the Old Master Paintings and Portrait Miniatures auction at Sothebys in London in April 2021. It changed hands for a price of GBP 32,760.00 (€ 37,683.53) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 26,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Hoppner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children, which sold at auction in July 2021 for GBP 81,900.00 (€ 96,044.73).

Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 32.760,00 (€ 37.683,53) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 26.000,00 – 35.000,00.
