The result of USD 25,000.00 (€ 20,705.65) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Hoppner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Henrietta Maria Vernon Atherton, 2nd Lady Lilford (d. 1820), of Atherton Hall, Leigh, with her two children in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 96,044.73).
