Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Henry Twachtman could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in October 2016 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art, Including the Collection of George S. Parker II from the Caxambas Foundation auction, the work French River Scene (Probably On The Bethune) changed hands for USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,262.73) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Henry Twachtman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hemlocks in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 600,000.00 (€ 445,997.18).
