Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work A Satyr Embracing A Woman by John Hamilton Mortimer. The price achieved of GBP 4,750.00 (€ 5,300.27) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hamilton Mortimer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Banditti fishing in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit A Satyr Embracing A Woman von John Hamilton Mortimer zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.750,00 (€ 5.300,27) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Banditti fishing im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51).
