This artwork by John Hamilton Mortimer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2012. In the Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work Cupid sold for GBP 2,375.00 (€ 2,929.03) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hamilton Mortimer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Banditti fishing in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).

Dieses Kunstwerk von John Hamilton Mortimer erzielte im Dezember 2012 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & Early British Drawings & Watercolours wurde die Arbeit Cupid für GBP 2.375,00 (€ 2.929,03) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Banditti fishing im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51).
