Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work Captive Family by John Hamilton Mortimer. It changed hands for a price of GBP 11,340.00 (€ 13,298.50) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Hamilton Mortimer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Banditti fishing in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Captive Family von John Hamilton Mortimer zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 11.340,00 (€ 13.298,50) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Banditti fishing im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51).
