Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In June 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important British Paintings, which included the work Three Gentlemen In A Landscape by John Hamilton Mortimer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 34,850.00 (€ 44,051.57), 16% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Hamilton Mortimer - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Banditti fishing, which sold at auction in January 2012 for USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Juni 2008 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Important British Paintings durch, in der auch die Arbeit Three Gentlemen In A Landscape von John Hamilton Mortimer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 34.850,00 (€ 44.051,57) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Banditti fishing beobachtet, die im Januar 2012 für USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51) versteigert wurde.
