This artwork by John Hamilton Mortimer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in November 2004. In the British Art on Paper auction, the work Il Reposo sold for GBP 13,145.00 (€ 18,909.01) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by John Hamilton Mortimer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Banditti fishing in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von John Hamilton Mortimer erzielte im November 2004 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion British Art on Paper wurde die Arbeit Il Reposo für GBP 13.145,00 (€ 18.909,01) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 5.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Banditti fishing im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51).
