Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Fishermen drawing in their nets by John Hamilton Mortimer was auctioned at Christies in London in July 2011. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 10,041.93) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Hamilton Mortimer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Banditti fishing in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Fishermen drawing in their nets von John Hamilton Mortimer kam im Juli 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 8.750,00 (€ 10.041,93) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Banditti fishing im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51).
