Auction result well in line with expectations
In January 2011 Christies in New York held the auction Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolors Part II, which included the work A battle in the precincts of a temple by John Hamilton Mortimer. The price achieved of USD 8,750.00 (€ 6,379.88) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Hamilton Mortimer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Banditti fishing in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 116,500.00 (€ 89,251.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Januar 2011 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Old Master & 19th Century Paintings, Drawings & Watercolors Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit A battle in the precincts of a temple von John Hamilton Mortimer zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 8.750,00 (€ 6.379,88) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 7.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Hamilton Mortimer erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Banditti fishing im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 116.500,00 (€ 89.251,51).
