Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A View Of The City Of York by John Glover was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 13,750.00 (€ 12,326.31). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Glover achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Ben Lomond from Mr Talbot's property -- four Men catching Opossums in September 2013 with an auction result of GBP 1,741,875.00 (€ 2,082,142.27).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit A View Of The City Of York von John Glover im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 13.750,00 (€ 12.326,31) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Glover erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Ben Lomond from Mr Talbot's property -- four Men catching Opossums im September 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.741.875,00 (€ 2.082.142,27).
