Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by John Frederick Kensett could be acquired at Sothebys in New York in September 2019 for an unexpectedly low price. In the American Art auction, the work Reminiscences Of The Catskill Mountains changed hands for USD 68,750.00 (€ 63,044.48) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Kensett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Entrance to Newport Harbor in December 2005 with an auction result of USD 1,248,000.00 (€ 1,053,876.03).
