The »bidding war« ended at GBP 76,600.00 (€ 76,600.00), 28% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Herring Senior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Start for the Derby, 1834 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,105,600.00 (€ 1,632,212.62).

Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 76.600,00 (€ 76.600,00) und damit 28% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Herring Senior erzielen.
