It achieved a price of GBP 47,880.00 (€ 55,861.45), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 60%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Frederick Herring Senior achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Start for the Derby, 1834 in May 2005 with an auction result of GBP 1,105,600.00 (€ 1,632,212.62).

Die Arbeit The Stirrup Cup von John Frederick Herring Senior kam im Juli diesen Jahres bei Christies in Paris zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 47.880,00 (€ 55.861,45) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 60%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Frederick Herring Senior erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Start for the Derby, 1834 im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.105.600,00 (€ 1.632.212,62).
