In March 2009 Christies in New York held the auction Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture, which included the work Basket Of Cherries by John F. Francis. The result of USD 40,000.00 (€ 30,163.64) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by John F. Francis have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life: Yellow Apples And Chestnuts Spilling From A Basket in December 2008 with an auction result of USD 374,500.00 (€ 269,056.69).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im März 2009 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Fine American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture durch, in der auch die Arbeit Basket Of Cherries von John F. Francis zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 40.000,00 (€ 30.163,64) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John F. Francis auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life: Yellow Apples And Chestnuts Spilling From A Basket im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 374.500,00 (€ 269.056,69).
