The work Portrait of Miss Chambers by John Downman was sold in the Living with Art auction at Christies in New York in October 2016. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,125.00 (€ 1,026.27), 61% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Downman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Henry Frederick Bouverie And His Sister in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 96,000.00 (€ 73,857.52).

Die Arbeit Portrait of Miss Chambers von John Downman wurde im Oktober 2016 in der Auktion Living with Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.125,00 (€ 1.026,27) und damit 61% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Downman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Portrait Of Henry Frederick Bouverie And His Sister im Januar 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 96.000,00 (€ 73.857,52).
