Sold at the lower estimate price
In December 2018 Sothebys in London held the auction Part I, which included the work Portrait Of Sarah Hussey Delaval, Countess Of Tyrconnell (1763-1800), Circa 1792 by John Downman. The result of GBP 2,500.00 (€ 2,785.22) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Downman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Portrait Of Henry Frederick Bouverie And His Sister in January 2007 with an auction result of USD 96,000.00 (€ 73,857.52).
