A top price for John Constable - as previously expected
In June 2016 Christies in London held the auction Defining British Art Evening Sale, which included the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch by John Constable. The price achieved of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000,000.00 – 16,000,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch is the most expensive artwork by John Constable that we have observed at auctions so far.

Im Juni 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Defining British Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch von John Constable zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 14.082.500,00 (€ 16.903.595,45) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000.000,00 – 16.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch das teuerste Kunstwerk von John Constable, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
