The work Study of trees by John Constable was worth USD 94,500.00 (€ 87,032.60) to a buyer in January this year. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Constable achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45).
