Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Study of trees by John Constable was worth USD 94,500.00 (€ 87,032.60) to a buyer in January this year. This price was achieved in the auction Old Master & British Drawings at Christies in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 30,000.00 many times over. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Constable achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45).

Die Arbeit Study of trees von John Constable war einem Käufer im Januar diesen Jahres USD 94.500,00 (€ 87.032,60) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings bei Christies in New York erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von USD 30.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Constable erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch im Juni 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.082.500,00 (€ 16.903.595,45).
