Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Glebe Farm by John Constable was auctioned at Sothebys in London in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,403,000.00 (€ 4,059,065.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by John Constable have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Glebe Farm von John Constable kam im Dezember 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000.000,00 – 5.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.403.000,00 (€ 4.059.065,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Constable auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch im Juni 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.082.500,00 (€ 16.903.595,45).
