The »bidding war« ended at GBP 187,500.00 (€ 209,454.21), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Constable achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45).

Die Arbeit Sketch of Leighton Hall, Lancashire, the hills of the Lake District beyond von John Constable wurde im Dezember 2020 in der Auktion Old Masters Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 187.500,00 (€ 209.454,21) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Constable erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch im Juni 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.082.500,00 (€ 16.903.595,45).
