The work Baslow on the Derwent by John Constable was sold in the Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries auction at Sothebys in New York in January last year. It achieved a price of USD 25,200.00 (€ 22,475.92), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 40%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Constable achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch in June 2016 with an auction result of GBP 14,082,500.00 (€ 16,903,595.45).

Die Arbeit Baslow on the Derwent von John Constable wurde im Januar letzten Jahres in der Auktion Master Works on Paper from Five Centuries bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 22.475,92) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 40%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Constable erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View on the Stour near Dedham, full-scale sketch im Juni 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 14.082.500,00 (€ 16.903.595,45).
