This artwork by John Cleveley the Younger achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in September 2004. In the Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale auction, the work Nearing Harbour sold for GBP 2,629.00 (€ 3,830.12) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Cleveley the Younger achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Views In The South Seas (4) in September 2004 with an auction result of GBP 318,850.00 (€ 464,524.16).
