In June 2003 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work A grey with a terrier in a stable by John Charles Maggs. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 881.25 (€ 1,266.40), 26% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Charles Maggs have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond in June 2002 with an auction result of GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,088.88).

Im Juni 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit A grey with a terrier in a stable von John Charles Maggs zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 881,25 (€ 1.266,40) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Charles Maggs auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond im Juni 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.290,00 (€ 5.088,88).
