Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2007 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art, which included the work The sportsman's study; and The tavern by John Charles Maggs. The price achieved of GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,531.76) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Other works by John Charles Maggs have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in June 2002 the work A Bristol to London mail coach with a hunt beyond was auctioned for GBP 3,290.00 (€ 5,088.88).
