Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by John Butler Yeats. The price achieved of GBP 819.00 (€ 903.08) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Butler Yeats achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self Portrait, New York in September 2017 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 99,269.87).

Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 819,00 (€ 903,08) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 700,00 – 1.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Butler Yeats erzielen.
