The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 1 Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by John Bogle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A boy, in blue coat with gold buttons, yellow waistcoat with blue stripes, frilled white shirt with frilled collar open at neck, long curling fair hair sold at auction in November 2007 with the realized price of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 12,252.26).
