In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Miniatures from a Private Collection, which included the work Portrait Of A Gentleman by John Bogle. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,500.00 (€ 3,187.15), 67% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Bogle - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A boy, in blue coat with gold buttons, yellow waistcoat with blue stripes, frilled white shirt with frilled collar open at neck, long curling fair hair, which sold at auction in November 2007 for GBP 8,750.00 (€ 12,252.26).
