Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A gentleman in black coat and waistcoat, wearing a powdered wig by John Bogle was sold in the Portrait Miniatures, Objects of Vertu, Selected Silver, and auction at Christies in London in November 2005. The price achieved of GBP 456.00 (€ 669.92) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Bogle achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A boy, in blue coat with gold buttons, yellow waistcoat with blue stripes, frilled white shirt with frilled collar open at neck, long curling fair hair in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 8,750.00 (€ 12,252.26).
