Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The U.S.S. Constellation engaging the French frigate L'Insurgente off Nevis, 9th February 1799 by John Bentham-Dinsdale was auctioned at Christies in London in November 2011. It changed hands for a price of GBP 1,375.00 (€ 1,605.17) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Admittedly, works by John Bentham-Dinsdale have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work H.M.S. Crescent, under the command of Captain James Saumarez, capturing the French frigate Réunion off Cherbourg, 20 October 1793 in March 2017 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,521.70).

Die Arbeit The U.S.S. Constellation engaging the French frigate L'Insurgente off Nevis, 9th February 1799 von John Bentham-Dinsdale kam im November 2011 bei Christies in London zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von GBP 1.375,00 (€ 1.605,17) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Bentham-Dinsdale auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit H.M.S.
