The price achieved of GBP 4,375.00 (€ 5,106.41) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Other works by John Bentham-Dinsdale have already achieved higher auction prices, for example, in March 2017 the work H.M.S. Crescent, under the command of Captain James Saumarez, capturing the French frigate Réunion off Cherbourg, 20 October 1793 was auctioned for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,521.70).
