In June 2002 Christies in London held the auction Sporting Art and Dogs, which included the work A favourite wins - The Birdcage on a rainy day, Newmarket by John Beer. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,645.00 (€ 2,544.44), 37% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by John Beer have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Miss Dollar Wins, Royal Handicap, Sandown Park; Freemason Wins, Sandown Park; Leaving the Paddock, Sandown Park; Parade, Sandown Park in May 2000 with an auction result of GBP 6,462.50 (€ 10,369.93).

Im Juni 2002 führte Christies in London die Auktion Sporting Art and Dogs durch, in der auch die Arbeit A favourite wins - The Birdcage on a rainy day, Newmarket von John Beer zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 1.645,00 (€ 2.544,44) und damit 37% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von John Beer auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Miss Dollar Wins, Royal Handicap, Sandown Park; Freemason Wins, Sandown Park; Leaving the Paddock, Sandown Park; Parade, Sandown Park im Mai 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 6.462,50 (€ 10.369,93).
