Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Sketch For The Fairy'S Banquet (Recto); Giving Alms (Verso) by John Anster Fitzgerald was sold in the Victorian & Edwardian Art auction at Sothebys in London in July 2009. The price achieved of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 110,349.60) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Anster Fitzgerald - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Dream After The Masked Ball (The Stuff Dreams Are Made Of), which sold at auction in November 2008 for GBP 301,250.00 (€ 364,233.89).
