In November 2009 Sothebys in Melbourne held the auction Important Australian Art, which included the work British Cattle Resting by John Alfred Arnesby Brown. The »bidding war« ended at AUD 11,400.00 (€ 6,951.46), 63% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Alfred Arnesby Brown achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The River, Afterglow in July 2019 with an auction result of GBP 87,500.00 (€ 96,069.18).

Im November 2009 führte Sothebys in Melbourne die Auktion Important Australian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit British Cattle Resting von John Alfred Arnesby Brown zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von AUD 11.400,00 (€ 6.951,46) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Alfred Arnesby Brown erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The River, Afterglow im Juli 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 87.500,00 (€ 96.069,18).
