In December 2011 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master and British Paintings Evening Sale, which included the work Peasants Dancing The Tarantella Outside An Inn In A Hilly Italianate Landscape by Johannes Lingelbach. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 90,000.00 – 120,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 116,470.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Peasants Dancing The Tarantella Outside An Inn In A Hilly Italianate Landscape is the most expensive artwork by Johannes Lingelbach that we have observed at auctions so far.
