Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Christies in London held the auction Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work Design for Erasmus Darwin's 'The Temple of Nature': The Power of Fancy in Dreams (recto), with a study of embracing lovers (verso) by Henry Fuseli. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 44,100.00 (€ 51,451.33) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henry Fuseli achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The incubus leaving two young women in October 2021 with an auction result of USD 3,510,000.00 (€ 3,038,434.90).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master and British Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit Design for Erasmus Darwin's 'The Temple of Nature': The Power of Fancy in Dreams (recto), with a study of embracing lovers (verso) von Henry Fuseli zur Versteigerung kam.
