This artwork by Henry Fuseli achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in July 2018. In the Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours auction, the work The Faerie Queene appears to Prince Arthur, from Edmund Spenser's 'The Faerie Queene' (recto); and A sketch for the Faerie Queene and Prince Arthur (verso) sold for GBP 728,750.00 (€ 817,088.99) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 250,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Henry Fuseli - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The incubus leaving two young women, which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 3,510,000.00 (€ 3,038,434.90).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Henry Fuseli erzielte im Juli 2018 bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Old Master & British Drawings & Watercolours wurde die Arbeit The Faerie Queene appears to Prince Arthur, from Edmund Spenser's 'The Faerie Queene' (recto); and A sketch for the Faerie Queene and Prince Arthur (verso) für GBP 728.750,00 (€ 817.088,99) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 250.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Henry Fuseli mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The incubus leaving two young women beobachtet, die im Oktober 2021 für USD 3.510.000,00 (€ 3.038.434,90) versteigert wurde.
